  1. Dude, no offense but the whole concept of password is not to get in. If you see "unsecure" have fun, BUT, other then that keeping moving on.
  2. an open zone is a wifi hot spot and they need no password, hence the open wifi.
  3. Open wi-fi is does not need a password you can connect to it if you are in its range. If it is asking for a password its a closed or private network. You probably are in the range of more than one network, just make sure you select the open one.
  4. An open zone is one you can just connect to - no encryption/security to get on - the SSID is broadcast so you see it when you view available wireless networks. If you are concerned about security though, you don't want to connect to them unless you are sure of the source. If the zone is protected and it is not obvious (relatively) who to ask for the password/key info, then you probably don't want to connect to it anyway. But if you're at a hotel or coffee shop and you know they offer WIFI, you'd go to the front desk or cashier. As far as Starbucks, generally they are open. You just connect to it and chances are, when you launch your browser to go to a website, their router will redirect you to a sign up page to pay for the service. There may be some that are FREE, but the one near me is not.
  5. Companies like Starbucks run public wifi. Even some of the public networks have encryption keys to limit use to their own customers. To use an unsecured private network without the owner's consent is illegal and carries heavy fines or up to 5 years in prison.
