How do I treat gnarly hot spots on a dog that likes to bother them?
My in-laws are away for the weekend. I've got the dog. She seems to have some pretty icky hot spots near her rear end. What can I put on them to make them heal, and is there anything I can dab on them to make them taste bad to her? This is the dog that LOVES bitter apple & cherry spray.. Thanks in advance.

- you need one of them Elizabethan collars to put on the dog so she cant chew her hot spots.
- Talk to your inlaws about you taking this dog to a vet in case it's NOT hot spots, but something that could become serious if not treated early. They also sell Bitter Orange. Try that. Dogs are supposed to hate Citus, but then again they are also supposed to hate Bitter Apple, but the Citrus one may work if it's just hot spots.
- my dog just had 2 and we just took him to the vet and they gave him this medicine stuff that took away the itch and it healed perfectly and the vets do not recommend the cones cause that just makes the dog wants to itch them more so it will make it worse and stress the dog out
- Try nustock it has sulfur in it so dogs don't like to lick it. This is nustock http://www.nustock.com/ we use it for bad scrapes to heal them quickly, also for a few of our dogs that had a bout of mange. Might wanna try bathing him in DermaBenSs, then apply nustock.
- You will have to get a collar from the vet, the kind that looks like an upside down lampshade. They also have a spray to help the skin heal. I just went through this with my Chinese Crested mix.
