- Purchase a High gain antenna for your laptop. You will be amazed at the improvement. You may actually be able to pick up a hotel across the street. I have no idea where in london to find a high gain antenna for 802.11G. But that would help you a lot.
- Yes, a good antenna will help a lot. If your wifi is built into your laptop you may want to consider purchasing an external usb wifi card .. You may also want to talk to your hotel about the poor signal .. they may be able to tweak it for you...
- McDonalds provide free internet use in most of their 'restaurants', so that's an option for some use, if you find hardware too pricey - though I realise you'd like to use it from your hotel, as first preference. Otherwise, there are directories of free wifi spots, such as http://www.hotspot-locations.com/modules.php?name=HotSpots&op=hotspot_query&hsl_countryhs=2GB&hs_state=&hs_city=london&hs_operator=&hsl_type=&hs_access_box=on&search=Search http://www.jiwire.com/search-hotspot-locations.htm http://free-hotspot.com/ You can search by your postcode, to see what wifi points are near to you. Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob
